Seattle Police Department LGBTQ+ Community Liaison

Officer Haden Barton is the Seattle Police Department’s LGBTQ+ community liaison and has worked at the East Precinct since joining SPD in 2019. Born and raised in South Carolina, he has long been committed to advocacy, open dialogue, and community connection.

He studied Media Arts and Psychology at the University of South Carolina and partnered with Campus Pride, a national nonprofit focused on creating a safer environment for LGBTQ+ students. After graduation, he worked for Campus Pride in North Carolina—continuing advocacy work on a national stage.

“The East Precinct is my home. It is where I have been my entire career. I know this community and I am excited to be here.”

This conversation is part of GSBA’s ongoing commitment to neighborhood connection, transparency, and community safety in Capitol Hill.
