Walk with GSBA in the 2024 Seattle Pride Parade

Description
Are you ready to celebrate Seattle's 50th Pride Parade with GSBA? We'd love for you to march alongside our amazing community, which includes our friendly staff, scholars, and volunteers, on Sunday, June 30th! This parade is a cornerstone event in the PNW, and it's a fantastic opportunity to show solidarity and unity with the LGBTQ+ community. So, come and join us for a dynamic display of support, and let's have some fun!
Meet on June 30th between 10am and 10:45am on 4th Ave between Union and University. Look for people in GSBA tshirts.
Please do not be late, we are very early on the list of marching organizations.

- There is a very strict late entry policy, please do not be late!

If you've already registered
What to Wear:
- We will have GSBA Pride T-shirts available for everyone at our staging area (scissors will be available if you wish to customize your t-shirt)
- You may also wear any other attire that represents inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
- Dress comfortably, considering the weather forecast for the day. Bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses if needed.
- Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Bring a backpack and reusable water bottle
How to find us:
- Our staging location is 4th Ave, between Union and University Streets, plan to arrive between 10:15 am and 11 am. (Click Here for Map) please do not be late.
- Upon arrival at the meeting point, look for folks wearing GSBA T-shirts and the GSBA banner with our logo.
What to bring:
- We will have noisemakers, flags, streamers, banners and signs to march with. Remember that pride is a protest, if you feel like making and bringing your own sign, you are more than welcome to.
How to behave:
- Be respectful and inclusive to all participants and spectators.
- Refrain from any offensive or discriminatory behavior, including the use of offensive language, gestures, or clothing.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption or any illegal substances before or during the parade.
- Please do not engage with parade protesters. They are very unhappy people and we do not need them to ruin our celebration. It is more effective to ignore them because there is no point in engaging with them.
Stay Safe:
- Stay hydrated throughout the parade. Bring a water bottle and drink plenty of fluids. We will be handing out water bottles at the staging area and throughout the parade route.
- Follow the instructions of parade officials and organizers regarding safety and emergency procedures.
- If you have any medical conditions or special requirements, please inform GSBA staff in advance and inform yourself of the location of medical tents located along the parade route.
Be mindful of bringing small children and pets.
- We strongly discourage that you bring pets or young children to the parade. The parade can get very loud and crowded and this can be very disorienting to pets or young kids. In addition, it will most likely be very warm, especially closer to the pavement/asphalt making it very unpleasant for them.
Stay fed and hydrated:
- We will have beverages, water, and some snacks at the staging area and during the parade.
- We encourage you to have a meal before arriving at the staging area, many shops will be closed on Sunday and there will be limited food options downtown that early in the day.

- Feel free to share your experience on social media, be sure to use #theGSBA and tag us on your posts.

Downtown street parking can be difficult. Metered street parking in downtown Seattle is free on Sundays, but don't rely on finding a spot proximate to the Parade route or its immediate side streets; those spaces will likely be claimed the night before. There may be parking in the pay-to-park lots around the area. Reminder: there is no parking in the staging, breakdown, and route areas for vehicles not a part of the Parade.
