About
Who We Are
Founded in 2017 in Seattle, WA, Minority Veterans of America (MVA) is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan, non-profit organization dedicated to creating community belonging and advancing equity for underrepresented veterans including racial and ethnic minority, LGBTQ+, women, and religious and non-religious minority veterans.
We are building an intersectional movement of minority veterans and allies. We advocate equity, respect, and justice for all veterans and deliver culturally-informed programming.
Together, our community is working to change the narrative of the American veteran and create a veteran community where we all belong and have an opportunity to thrive.

MVA Flagship
Located in Tukwila, WA, Minority Vets Community Center is a community space that serves as a hub for MVA Flagship – King County, WA programs, including human-centered case management, financial assistance, outreach, and events. We strive to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of minority veterans through social engagement, financial stability, and systems access.
Q'mmunity House
MVA’s Q’mmunity House is a safe, affirming, accessible, and supportive transitional housing program where LGBTQ+ veterans in King County, WA can access wrap-around resources needed to rebuild, grow, find stable, permanent housing, and thrive.
Unmet Care Needs Fund
To help meet the needs of King County veterans who are no longer provided gender-affirming care by VA providers, anonymous donors have partnered with MVA to provide subsidies for transgender veterans in need of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Summit
Delving into the intersections of the minority veteran identity and the key issues that impact our world experiences the most, the Summit features lectures, panels, fireside chats, lightning talks and live performances by minority veterans and lead activists, artists, experts, and legislators.
Training and Education
By delivering culturally-informed, intersectional programming focused on key behavioral health topics, including cultural competence, resource navigation, suicide prevention, and mental wellness, we empower community members and providers, employers, educators, and students to advocate for themselves and each other, contributing to our collective movement for equity, justice, and respect.
