WEgsba Founder Conversation: Axton Burton (COMMUNITY EVENT)
WEgsba Founder Conversation: Axton Burton (COMMUNITY EVENT)
Thursday, October 3, 2024 (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (PDT)
Description
Axton Burton (they/them) is the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Pride Across the Bridge on the Eastside of Greater Seattle and also the founding owner of Immediate Relief Pet Services. They will primarily be sharing a Founder’s Conversation about their decision to form and journey launching and running a non-profit org.
Pride Across the Bridge was created to combat the false narrative that our proximity to Seattle equates to easy and accessible resources, medical care, and connective spaces. East King County has a large amount of resources and developing events for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community that deserve equitable and inclusive spaces close to home. Although we are a bridge away, travel into Seattle is not always possible, especially for our more vulnerable intersectionalities like our queer youth and rainbow elders. Pride Across the Bridge works to take care of the community through addressing the shared needs here with them, at home.
Pride Across the Bridge spearheaded the way for a rainbow crosswalk in Redmond, creates and shares 2SLGBTQIA+ resources, and hosts a variety of social and educational events.
Immediate Relief Pet Services is a queer and disabled-owned business based in Redmond offering heart to heart care for animals and humans. Through at-home visits, afternoon dog group adventures, and a compassionate memorial care for pet parents giving access to their pet's bones, IRPS is an independently run animal caretaking business.

ABOUT WEgsba
WEgsba is GSBA’s initiative to bring together all women and gender-expansive business owners to discuss challenges, share resources, learn from presenters, advocate for and increase visibility of the community, and provide mentorship opportunities for new and aspiring entrepreneurs - or just about anything we want to do with our group. This is a volunteer-organized program for business owners and soon-to-be business owners.
WEgsba aims to be an inclusive environment for women and gender expansive business owners from all walks of life. Our doors are open to any and all who wish to center women's voices and experiences while moving beyond a binary lens.
Feel free to invite guests, being aware that we aim to be a confidential, safe space, where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts, business questions and challenges, etc.
