The mission of the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) is to build, engage, and support our diverse community through programs, services, and activities that connect neighbors and foster civic engagement. 

 

Position Overview
The PNA Facilities Maintenance Specialist is a part time position (up to 20 hrs./wk). Shift is 6:00pm to 10:00pm (schedule can be flexible). The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, works independently, and functions well within the facilities team. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Grounds; mowing, weeding, pruning, watering, and exterior clean-up (Spring, Summer, Fall), additional duties, to include some winter clean-up, spreading ice melt(winter), as assigned

General Campus maintenance.

Weekly Inventory, delivery vendor contact, set and adjust PAR.

Assisting the Friday Farmer’s Market personnel with break down and emergencies (Summer seasonal).

DOE may work on special projects including working with volunteers in painting/remodel projects etc. 

 

Qualifications

Experience in commercial grounds maintenance

Operating skills with commercial mowers, edger, chipper, blowers and line trimmers.

Attention to detail and good communication skills.

Ability to work by yourself in an open dynamic public environment.

Position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and ability to carry and operate equipment.

Ability to pass national criminal background check.

 

Compensation

This is a 15-20 hour per week position paying $19.97-$24 hour DOE. Benefits include: 401(k) plan with employer match; paid time off (PTO); and a free PNA household membership with reduced costs for classes and room rentals. We offer a convivial, positive, and flexible working environment.

Headquartered in a former elementary school, the PNA has developed an active community center that not only serves as a focus of the Phinney/Greenwood neighborhood, but also offers programs and activities that reach far beyond the immediate neighborhood, at four different sites in Phinney, Greenwood, and Ballard. Current programs include two preschool cooperatives, a licensed preschool and school age program at Whittier Elementary School, a hot meal program, the Greenwood Senior Center, PNA Village, a tool lending library, a business membership program, family memberships, room rentals, and countless special events that bring friends and neighbors together. We co-sponsor a summer farmers market, weekly folk music concerts, and other community events. The PNA serves over 23,000 people each year, has 70 staff, 1,100 volunteers, and an annual budget of $3.6 million.
