JOB SUMMARY

 • Reports to: CC/Owner 

• Manages: Accounting Team

 • Full time 

• On Location at The Works Company Headquarters

 • Quarterly Bonus 

• Salary $95,000 - $110,000 

We’re seeking an experienced accountant to oversee our accounting team in the role of Controller. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 • Oversee, review and adhere to the budgets for each business concept

 • Assists in company-wide budgetary planning 

• Ensure that all of the company’s financial practices are in line in statuary regulations and legislation 

• Analyze the financial climate and market trends to assist senior leadership team in creating strategic plans for the future 

• Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed 

• Monitor cash flow, accounts and other financial transactions 

• Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates and environment of trust and productivity 

• Work with Nowsta, Caterease and QuickBooks on integrations to create efficiencies 

• Prepare official reports on a Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and annual basis • Seek out practices to help the company minimize financial risk

• Conduct in house audits to ensure financial health 

• Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banks and accountants 

• Create, implement and update financial policies and procedures 

• Lead, mentor and train the leadership team in best financial practices

 • Monitor and assist in purchasing, especially with larger transactions and contract decisions 

• Oversee Payroll processing 

• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across all programs

 • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow 

RECOMMENDED SKILLS & ABILITIES 

• MUST have experience with food service/hospitality

 • MUST have experience with multiple locations/P&L's

 • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis

 • Advanced MS Excel experience and database management knowledge 

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally

 • Follow and adhere to established policies and procedures 

• Strong technology experience and learning capability 

• Demonstrated experience in developing strong team relationships based on trust, accountability, integrity, and sharing of best practices 

• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality while working with sensitive data 

• Payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes 

RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field 

• 10+ years proven accounting experience 

• Experience working in the Hospitality Industry

 • Experience working with multiple locations and P&L’s 

• Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)

 • 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager 

• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting 

• CPA highly preferred
