Sous Chef
We are looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our catering team. We are a small business and work hard but have fun doing it! The Sous Chef will work directly under the Executive Chef to execute the menu for all catered events, and assist in cost control, inventory, and sanitation. Skill in following directions and multi-tasking is required along with a strong work ethic, motivation, and creativity.
Main Duties:
Utilize catering event orders to prep, fire, plate or display as needed
Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep
Undertake basic cooking duties, such as grilling, sautéing, and broiling
Consistently plate dinners, passed apps, food stations, buffet spreads, and other foods to a high safety and aesthetic standard
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, sweeping & mopping
Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
Work efficiently with a constant sense of urgency & time management while prioritizing food safety
Work well with service staff, executive chef, and the entire Imperia team
Receive and stock food and kitchen goods
Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly, always being prepared for surprise health inspections
Occasional shop and pickup of food items
Perform additional routine kitchen tasks and duties as assigned
Ability to work nights & weekends consistently through busy months
Required Skills:
Demonstrated adherence to health and safety rules in a kitchen
Ability to take direction and feedback, work well with executive chef, and deliver on expectations
Strong knowledge and execution of basic cooking techniques & knife skills

Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years food & beverage experience
Training from a culinary school or proven experience as a prep cook or similar
Catering kitchen experience, a plus
Current Food Handlers Permit required
Valid driver’s license and reasonable driving record a plus
Routine Physical Requirements:
Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Manual dexterity in the use and operation of kitchen appliances and equipment
Ability to use stairs – Prep kitchen and trash are 1-2 flights of stairs below the main ballroom and will be scaled multiple times per day while carrying items

Salary & Hours
FT Salary Position $58,000-65,000 DOE per year
Located in Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle
Set daytime schedule of Wednesday to Sunday, with flexed Nights, Weekends, Holidays, and occasional extended hours depending on events
